Select the items you rented instead of buying new. We'll calculate the manufacturing CO2 you helped avoid.
Items I rented instead of buying:
Why renting is greener than buying
The vast majority of a product's lifetime carbon footprint — sometimes over 70% — is created during manufacturing, before it ever reaches a user. Every time someone rents instead of buys, one fewer product needs to be made.
On Life4Rent, each item listed and rented multiple times multiplies its environmental value. A camera rented 20 times avoids 20 manufacturing footprints. That's the power of the circular economy.
of a typical product's CO2 footprint is from manufacturing alone, not usage.

How we calculate
CO2 figures are based on lifecycle analysis data from peer-reviewed manufacturing emissions research and industry reports. Each figure represents the embodied carbon (kg CO2e) avoided by renting instead of manufacturing a new product. Tree equivalence based on average 21kg CO2/year absorption. Car equivalence based on 0.12kg CO2/km. Flight equivalence based on average 90kg CO2 per short-haul flight.
